Who am I?
Hello! I’m Chantal, Aussie expat, mum to 2 teens, Pilates and functional movement enthusiast!
I discovered Pilates about 3 years ago – I had been on again, off again, exercising, trying all different kinds of things to find something that stuck. Then I threw my back out, doing the most mundane of things- laundry. The pain was terrible, and once I recovered I was very nervous to get back into any exercise for fear of re-injuring. My good friend, was a newly certified Pilates instructor, and trying to build up a clientele, she offered me a great deal on some private lessons, and after 2 sessions I was hooked! Finally something had clicked!
Through its slow and controlled exercises and movements, Pilates has taught me to become present in the moment and in my body, without attaching any spirituality to it. (I don’t need a yogi, thanks). As I have progressed, I have gained strength and control, I have been able to move through the exercises with more fluidity, which has transferred into my daily life. My posture has changed completely, (I even grew almost an inch from the length and space it created in my spine!), and I have no more back pain. When I work out I have confidence that I have the ability to stabilize myself and know and listen to my body to avoid injury. In fact, combining my Pilates knowledge and my Crossfit training was actually one of the reasons that led me to take the final step into becoming a Pilates instructor, as I believe the two are wonderfully compatible. I am really excited to share my passion for Pilates with others, so please join me and give Pilates a go!
